Biosystems Engineering Department synthesizes the fields of biology, engineering, environmental science and agricultural science, and provides students with education and research on the design, management and sustainability of biological systems. This department provides students with the opportunity to combine basic engineering principles with biological and environmental systems. Engineers working in this field work effectively on important issues such as improving agricultural technologies, using irrigation system tools and developing renewable energy sources.

Purpose of Biosystems Engineering Department

Biosystems Engineering Department aims to train Biosystems Engineers with knowledge and skills specific to engineering science, and to provide scientific analysis skills to engineer candidates who can follow local and global innovations related to their field and contribute to developments.

Duration of Education

Iğdır University Biosystems Engineering Department education period is four years. During this period, engineer candidates receive extensive education on the basic subjects of Biosystems Engineering field. During this process, a number of courses corresponding to 240 ECTS must be taken.

Program Content

The department's education program includes various courses to ensure that Biosystems Engineers gain the necessary knowledge and skills.

The first year begins with introductory and basic courses such as Introduction to Biosystems Engineering and Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Energy Resources, Materials Science. 

In the second year, engineering courses such as Technical Drawing, Fluid Mechanics, Statics, Dynamics are offered to students. 

In the third year, emphasis is placed on Thermodynamics, Irrigation Principles, Planting Care Fertilizer Machines. 

In the fourth and final year, along with courses such as Product Harvesting Threshing Machines, Drainage and Land Reclamation, the Professional Application Course is offered in depth in order to make practical applications.

Students who graduate from Biosystems Engineering have career opportunities in different sectors such as agriculture, environment, food, health and energy. The program emphasizes sustainability principles and provides its graduates with effective working skills in this field.
